Robert Riley New Chaplain at Carteret Health

Robert “Bob” Riley has joined the Carteret Health Care team as the new Director of Chaplaincy Services. Chaplain Riley earned a Bachelor of Science from the Charleston Southern University and completed a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Prior to joining the Carteret Health Care team, Chaplain Riley served in numerous Southern Baptist churches over his career in various locations across the Eastern seaboard. Taking a short break from formal ministry, he delivered mail for 4 years until he was called back into ministry.

Chaplain Riley shared, “I have always enjoyed the hospital setting and serving people and this position allows me a perfect opportunity to accomplish this in a beautiful place. I look forward to establishing lasting relationships and making a difference in this hospital and the Carteret community.”

Chaplain Riley will be working closely with patients, families, staff, local congregations and ministers. He looks forward to helping others meet their spiritual and emotional needs as well as establishing strong, ongoing relationships with each and every person.

Spending time at the beach with friends and family along with kayaking, biking and traveling are some of the Chaplain’s favorite hobbies. He considers his three sons his greatest accomplishments as two are ministers and one is a police officer.

“I accepted the opportunity to live and serve here because of the wonderful things I had heard and seen about this hospital, its staff and the community we are privileged to be in.” Riley concludes, “My prayer each day is to serve God and man in whatever way I can, be it a smile, kind word or deed.”
