CHC Earns another ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

National recognition places Carteret Health among the top tier in the country for patient safety and clinical excellence.

May 6, 2026 – For the second time in a row, Carteret Health Care has secured an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, distinguishing it as one of the safest hospitals in the nation.

This top grade recognizes Carteret Health Care’s ongoing dedication to protecting patients from preventable harm and delivering the highest standards of quality and safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the nation’s only rating program focused exclusively on medical errors, infections and injuries that can occur in hospitals.

“While we are honored to receive this ‘A’ Grade once again, we view it as a benchmark to continue improving,” said Kyle Marek, president and CEO of Carteret Health Care. “At Carteret Health Care, we are constantly evaluating our processes and implementing new safety protocols to ensure we remain at the forefront of patient care. This national recognition reaffirms that our commitment to safety is stronger than ever.”

Leapfrog assigns letter grades — “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” — to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, infections and injuries, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. The program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public, with grades updated twice each year in the spring and fall.

“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Carteret Health Care is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
