The energy at the Morehead City Country Club was electric earlier this week as we gathered for our annual Doctors Day Celebration. While we took the time to honor the
collective dedication of all our Carteret County physicians, one moment stood out above the rest: the announcement of Dr. Ryan Taylor as the 2026 Doctor of the Year.
A Leader Within the Hospital Walls
As a Hospitalist, Dr. Taylor’s work is often intense and fast-paced. While many physicians see patients in a clinical office setting, Dr. Taylor’s "office" is the hospital floor. He serves as the "Quarterback of Care," managing the complex journey of our patients from admission to discharge.
Whether he is coordinating with specialists or providing a calming presence for a family in crisis, Dr. Taylor represents the very best of inpatient medicine.
Beyond the Bedside: A Mentor and Visionary
While his clinical skills are well-known, the community response to his award has highlighted two other incredible facets of his career at Carteret Health Care:
Building a Legacy: Dr. Taylor has been instrumental in creating and refining the premier Hospitalist program here at CHC, ensuring our patients receive consistent, high-quality care 24/7.
Shaping the Future: He doesn't just care for patients today; he prepares the doctors of tomorrow. As the Director of the medical school program, he mentors 22 Campbell University medical students, serving as a vital role model for the next generation of physicians.
In the Words of the Community
The announcement on social media was immediately met with an outpouring of support from colleagues, former patients, and students alike:
"Nobody is more deserving than you! We appreciate you creating the best Hospitalist program at CHC."
"A true role model for the future of your profession! CHC is lucky to have you."
Join Us in Congratulating Dr. Taylor
We are incredibly proud to have Dr. Taylor on our team. His dedication to clinical excellence, his leadership in medical education, and his unwavering compassion make him a truly "most deserving" recipient of this year's honor.
