Only NC Hospital in Nation Recognized as Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital

Carteret Health Care is excited to share that we have once again been recognized as a top national performer by an external, independent agency. Carteret Health Care is the only North Carolina hospital who earned a spot as a 2017 TOP 100 Rural & Community Hospital according to The National Rural Health Association's Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Carteret’s performance was assessed by iVantage’s Hospital Strength INDEX, an objective standard for benchmarking rural, community and Critical Access Hospital performance in an increasingly complex environment. Carteret Health received a strong Index ranking of 94.0 with areas of significant strength being In-patient/Outpatient Market Share, Costs and Financial Stability.

Carteret earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement pillars of strength. These eight measures access the strength and vulnerabilities of hospitals including, inpatient share ranking, outpatient share ranking, costs, charges, quality, clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and perspectives, and financial stability. Most data used is readily available from public sources, primarily the federal government, through the Center for Medical and Medicaid Services.

The Becker’s Hospital Review recently noted that Carteret Health Care was named on this exclusive list as a top performer in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than our peers, according to the report. Carteret Health Care is the only North Carolina hospital included on the Top 100 list as shown on this link. http://www.beckershospitalreview.com/rankings-and-ratings/100-top-rural-and-community-hospitals.html

This achievement further validates Carteret’s commitment to the community in providing high-quality, cost effective care which is available locally. As a sole community hospital, Carteret remains focused on growing essential services to better serve its population and the distinction comes after other recent recognitions such as receiving our 3rd consecutive top ranking by The Leapfrog Group, being noted with the highest NC Maternity Center Breastfeeding-Friendly Designation from the NC Division of Public Health and for receiving the most Get With The Guideline awards of any North Carolina hospital for heart failure, stroke, atrial fibrillation and resuscitation care.
