Two Carteret Nurses To Participate on Expert Panel

Two Carteret Health Care registered nurses have been invited to participate on an expert panel during an upcoming Infection Control Tomorrow summit. Elaine Crittenton, RN, and Katherine Steele, RN, will share their expert knowledge with peers in Scottsdale, AZ on April 29. This event sponsored by Infection Control Today will bring together an elite group of 300 Infection Preventionists to hear from sought-after speakers and to discuss traditional strategies and leading innovative approaches, creating the best of both worlds in infection prevention.

The focus of their presentation is Grooming and Growing Infection Preventionists: The Power of Mentoring. This session will define the purpose of mentoring; outline the personal and professional benefits of mentoring; and address its importance among infection preventionists.

Infection Control Tomorrow is the industry's most progressive event to discuss traditional strategies and leading innovative approaches, creating the best of both worlds in infection prevention. This two-day digital summit will identify the most pressing trends and advance current thought on the infection prevention agenda.

Ms. Steele who is an Infection Preventionist at Carteret has thirty years of nursing experience in infection prevention, geriatrics and outpatient surgery. She was recently recognized for her leadership in several regional, statewide and national collaboratives involving hand hygiene, as well as the prevention of central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI) and catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).

With over thirty-five years of experience in healthcare, Ms. Crittenton has experience in trauma/critical care, infusion therapy and surgery and high-tech homecare. She is the director of infection prevention as well as employee health and wellness at Carteret Health Care. During this time, Carteret Health Care has been recognized statewide and nationally for numerous infection prevention efforts including prevention of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO), CLABSI, CAUTI, Ventilator Acquired Pneumonia (VAP) and Surgical Site Infections (SSI). Ms. Crittenton is passionate regarding infection prevention education of fellow care providers, especially junior infection preventionists.
