Announcing Kyle Marek as Carteret Health Care’s President and CEO

The Carteret Health Care Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Mr. Kyle Marek has been appointed as the President/CEO of Carteret Health Care effective May 22, 2023.

Carteret Health Care Board Chairman, Mark Shouse stated, “We are pleased to have Mr. Marek lead Carteret Health Care as the permanent CEO. He has proven himself in many roles at the hospital over the years and during his term as interim CEO has demonstrated his leadership ability that will ensure the continued success of this hospital.”

Mr. Marek has over 24 years of experience in the healthcare field and has served as the interim CEO since December 20, 2022. Prior to assuming the role of Interim President/CEO, he served as Vice-President of General Services and Chief Information Officer.

During his time as Vice-President of General Services, Mr. Marek expanded Carteret Health Care’s technology through strategic planning to meet the current and future regulations. As a member of the administrative team, Mr. Marek also served as key decision maker in construction projects such as the Specialty Pavilion, Cardiac Catheterization Lab and current Surgical Services addition and Renovation.

Mr. Marek completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and earned his Master of Science in Network Technology at East Carolina University (ECU). Mr. Marek has been nationally recognized as a Community Hospital Chief Information Officer to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review in 2017, 2019 and 2022 and as a College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Digital Health Most Wired Organization in 2022. He is an active member of CHIME, American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Mr. Marek and his wife, Kelly are raising their family here on the coast in Carteret County. They have a son, Klint, who is a senior at East Carolina University and a daughter, Kamdyn, who is a sophomore at West Carteret High School. Aside from spending time with his family, Mr. Marek’s interests include fishing, hunting and cheering on the ECU Pirates.
