Morehead City, NC, August 2022 – Carteret Health Care Hospice has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2021 calendar year.

Betsy Lane, Director of Care Coordination and Community Health Programs shares, “We are proud that our commitment to quality care has earned us this achievement. We want to continue to be the provider of choice in hospice care in Carteret County by providing the community with the care and support needed in the places they call home.”

Most hospice care is provided in the home. For those who cannot remain at home, hospice provides services in alternate settings such as assisted living communities or nursing homes. The goal for Carteret Health’s Hospice is to provide comfort care, enabling the patient to be close to family and friends. Care is offered for those suffering from cancer, Alzheimer's, end-stage heart diseases, end-stage respiratory diseases and other life-limiting illnesses.

The annual SHPBest™ award program was created to acknowledge hospice providers that consistently provide high quality service to families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care. The 2021 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall CAHPS Hospice survey satisfaction score for more than 1,000 hospice providers. With one of the largest CAHPS Hospice benchmarks in the nation, SHP is in a unique position to identify and recognize organizations that have made family and caregiver satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the CAHPS Hospice survey.

“SHP is proud to present the SHPBest awards to our top-performing customers. We commend these organizations for their continuous focus on delivering the highest quality of care to their patients,” said Rob Paulsson, President of SHP.

Carteret Health Hospice offers a team approach of care including teaching, support to caregivers, nursing services, medical social worker and chaplain, and volunteers.

Daniels concludes, “Our entire staff has contributed to this honor and it is our patients that benefit from their efforts.”
