About Dr. Aljamal

Dr. Abed Aljamal is a hematology/oncology specialist with the Carteret Health Care Cancer Center. Originally from Beirut, Lebanon, he brings a global perspective and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.

He earned his medical degree from Beirut Arab University, completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, and his fellowship in hematology-oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Prior to clinical training, Dr. Aljamal conducted cancer research at Duke University.

Dr. Aljamal’s interest in medicine began at age eleven after caring for an injured pet. Inspired by his mother and volunteer work in rural Lebanon, he developed a lifelong dedication to compassionate care. His professional journey along the East Coast has kept him close to the water, reflecting his coastal upbringing.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Aljamal enjoys skiing, pickleball, and adventure sports, with skydiving and piloting on his bucket list. He chose Carteret County for its welcoming community and the opportunity to provide advanced cancer care in an underserved region.
