Emergency Department Adds Virtual Care Option

Carteret Health Care’s Emergency Department now offers a virtual visit option for non-critical care. When it’s late at night and the doctors’ offices are closed, patients can now seek medical care from an emergency provider at Carteret Health Care without leaving home. Patients can request a virtual visit and see an emergency provider who is working real-time in Carteret Health Care’s Emergency Department.

From the comfort and safety of home, patients may use a smartphone or camera-enabled device to see an emergency provider to assess and provide care, as well as to determine if a patient needs to physically come into the Emergency Department. Should the provider feel medications are necessary, a prescription will be called into the patient’s pharmacy. However, no controlled or narcotic prescriptions will be provided.

Telehealth services are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Carteret Health Care’s Emergency services is staffed by an US Acute Care Solutions provider who is physically working in Carteret Health Care’s Emergency Department.

To request a virtual visit, call the Emergency Department at Carteret Health Care at 252-499-6CHC (6242) and provide information as requested. Patients will need to have insurance information and an active email and mobile number prior to registering.

For a critical, life-threatening emergency such as trouble breathing or chest pains, immediately call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.

Carteret Health Care offers several options for Virtual Care with our providers.
