Carteret County To Celebrate Cancer Survivors on June 3

Let’s show the world what life after cancer looks like! On National Cancer Survivors Day®, we will join thousands of people in hundreds of communities throughout the world to celebrate life. Join us at Carteret Health Care on the front Arendell Street lawn on Sunday, June 3 at 2pm as we honor local survivors who are living with and beyond cancer.

National Cancer Survivors Day® is an opportunity for cancer survivors to connect with other survivors, celebrate milestones, and acknowledge the contributions of the families, friends, healthcare providers, and researchers who have supported them along the way. It is a day for cancer survivors to stand together and show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful, fulfilling, and even inspiring.

Presented by Carteret Health Care’s Cancer Center and Carolinas Center for Surgery, the celebration will include food, games, celebration booths, chair massages, makeover tips, art therapy, smoothies and more survivor pampering and family fun. Live music performed by Mommicked will entertain us and Spencer Lueders of Charlotte and founder of 24 Foundation will kick off the event with a short presentation.

Mr. Lueders’ 24 Foundation is a Charlotte-based nonprofit that is dedicated to making an immediate impact on the lives of people affected by cancer. Through its signature fundraising event, known as the 24 Hours of Booty, the organization has raised more than 20 million dollars towards cancer navigation and survivorship services delivered through its partners Atrium Health in the Carolinas, the Simon Cancer Center in Indiana, and Johns Hopkins in Maryland. Spencer, his wife and three children reside in Charlotte.
