Robotic Surgery Utilizing MAKOplasty Robotic Arm Technology

We are proud to offer robotic surgery at our Joint & Spine Center through Mako robotic-assisted surgery. Makorobotic surgery is minimally invasive and useful for treating patients who suffer from debilitating knee or hip pain. We may recommend robotic surgery for total hip and knee replacements or partial knee resurfacing procedures. Your orthopedic surgeon controls the RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System, the highly advanced medical equipment designed to improve patient outcomes and the rate of healing.

Hip, Knee & Joint Replacements

Whether from age or injury, over time, certain parts of the body can give out. When this happens, it can be painful to move, and the area could become stiff or swollen. If left untreated, worse problems can occur, such as infection or damage to connecting bones and ligaments. One of the most common causes of damaged joints is severe arthritis.

Joint replacements remove the damaged body part and replace it with an artificial substitute made of metal, plastic, or ceramic material. These replacements should provide the patient with improved range of motion and eliminate the pain. A typical replacement lasts 10 to 15 years and may need to be upgraded.

Cervical Discectomy with Fusion & Lumbar Laminectomy with Fusion

  • Cervical Discectomy with Fusion – This surgery may be recommended for patients with a herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, or arthritis induced bone spurs. In the operation, a damaged disc is removed between 2 vertebrae. In its place, a bone graft or implant is placed and fused to the system to keep the area strong and stable.
  • Lumbar Laminectomy with Fusion – Spinal stenosis is a condition in which the spinal canal of the lower back begins to narrow and pinch nerves. Those afflicted often experience pain and weakness in the legs and lower back. This operation removes the piece of the lumbar causing pain and fuses remaining pieces together with a bone graft.

Our Physicians

Orthopedic surgeons in the Joint & Spine Center use the latest in surgical techniques, including joint replacement, spine surgeries, arthroscopy, and minimally invasive partial joint replacement surgery. All physicians are board certified in orthopedic surgery; they ensure the highest level of care for all patients. Following surgery, they visit patients on a routine basis, monitoring all progress, to determine the appropriate therapies for faster recovery.

Why is our center so special?

During their hospital stay, joint patients participate in individualized and group therapy sessions. In this atmosphere of camaraderie, caring and sharing, patients receive comprehensive treatments and group support. An open door policy allows family members to spend as much time as their schedule allows. In addition, family members are trained to be “coaches” to assist in home care.

Our center is certified by The Joint Commission's Disease Specific Care certification program.
