Quality Healthcare Is Our Mission
Carteret Health Care’s Mission is to provide Quality Healthcare with exceptional compassion and respect. Our organization has developed an ongoing Performance Improvement Plan to ensure that we provide an optimal quality, cost effective continuum of healthcare services to all citizens and visitors of Carteret County, as well as a safe environment of respect, compassion and dignity. At Carteret Health Care (CHC), we strive towards a goal of zero serious safety events of patient harm.
We’re committed to sustaining a Culture of Safety on our Journey to Zero Events of Harm. With this said, we also focus on our individual habits that can reduce medical errors and have implemented Behavioral Expectations and Error Prevention tools as defined in our C.A.R.E. Bundle:
C – Communicate. SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation for handoffs); Clear communication (read/repeat backs; phonetic/numeric clarifications; document legibly); Ask clarifying questions.
A – Action. Speak Up for Safety using ARCC (Ask a question, Make a Request, Voice aConcern, Use Chain of Command); STOP, validate, and verify before proceeding in the face of uncertainty; Model safety behaviors.
R – Review. S.T.A.R. Stop to concentrate on the task; Think about the task; Act or perform the task; Review or double check to ensure that the task was completed correctly.
E – Educate. Peer Checking/Peer Coaching; Peer checking to prevent a co-worker from making a mistake, peer coaching to encourage and praise co-workers for performing correct behaviors.
To help us meet our goals, Carteret Health Care participates in several state and national quality-reporting programs. This information helps us continually improve our care and excel in patient quality and safety. At CHC, we emphasize and encourage compliance in all areas where experts agree on the best treatment for specific conditions.
It’s important for our patients to be informed and involved in their healthcare decisions. Carteret Health Care invites you to examine our performance of safe and effective treatment for Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia and Surgical Care. This information is available from national and state public reporting sites. We encourage you to follow the links on the sidebar to see how CHC’s outcomes compare on quality measures.
